This course taught entirely in Yiddish is for students with a good knowledge of Yiddish culture and grammar. We will read and discuss texts of classical authors such as Yitskhok Leybush Peretz, Sholem Aleykhem, Avrom Sutzkever, Avrom Reyzen as well as listen to informative videos about famous figures in Yiddish culture. Complex grammatical structures such as the tautological infinitive, passive voice in conditional sentences, interrogative relative pronouns and compound nouns to be studied will be drawn from the texts. You will learn a new vocabulary building on synonyms and have an understanding of the complex forms of Yiddish grammar.
